If I move will I have to collect California Sales Tax?
James W asked:
I have a small internet retailing business located in Arizona. I would like to move myself to California. If I keep the corporation, employees, retailing and shipping operations in AZ would my personal relocation to CA require me to start collecting sales tax from CA customers?

If the business is a slole proprietor ship maybe
but if a s or c corp probably not
seek out the advice from a cpa
No. The corporation is a separate legal entity from you. If it is still located in AZ, then only sales to AZ customers would be subject to sales tax. It doesn’t matter where you, the sole shareholder is resident. If that wasn’t the case, then that would mean a public corporaton like Amazon would have to collect sales tax in every single state (except the states that do not charge sales tax like Oregon), since the shareholders most likely are from every state.
No, you would not have Nexus (a physical presence) in California, so you would not have a requirement to collect CA sales tax.
