Is it possible to open a bank account in a state where you have no residence?

zidag123 asked:

I am selling products over the internet and I want to get out of NY sales tax. If I open my account for the online business in another state then I can get out of NY sales tax when I sell to New Yorkers which will be my main clientele. Is it possible to open a bank account in another state where I am not living?

Beside having a checking account in a specific state you also need a business license. You also need to meet some state regulations for selling and shipping to other states. You can establish your business in any state you want but you will probably need a mailing address. There are businesses that will supply you with a valid address somewhat like a P.O. Box and will forward your mail to your actual residence. Good Luck

get a P.O. Box at a mail box etc… and then set up an account. simple. as far as avoiding taxes, talk to your accountant. But the bank is easy.
