In Maryland what is a sale and use tax license for?
deserae007 asked:
I am looking to start a sole proprietor jewelry business (yeah I already know about liability and what not…its cheaper than an llc). I am a student so I need it to be as simple and cheap as possible.
Okay, what I am trying to do is buy jewelry wholesale and sell it retail. I am looking to buy from online wholsalers which require a STATE RESALE TAX NUMBER:
1. Is this the same as a SALES AND USE TAX LICENSE?
2. If this is not the same as a S&UT License then do I have to apply for a TRADERS LICENSE?
3. By applying for the licenses do I have to pay the $300 personal property return filing fee? ( a bunch of bs if you ask me)
I am trying to cut cost wherever possible and I am really not trying to pay $300 for useless filing fees. This will be a homebased business…possibly internet esclusive. All I want is to be able to buy wholesale but I must have the right license please let me know which one.
I need experienced resellers in maryland to answer this question please. Thanx!!

Duminos asked:
Are the Dems like me? Do they hope to use the internet to make low income people pay sales taxes?
What does it say about Dems when they do all they can to keep using regressive taxes such as sales tax?
Do you support me and the Dems? If not, vote to get rid of Hillary and Pelosi.

When is the new Internet/USA States SalesTax Happening?
spambuster7 asked:
Now that the Democrats have control again I hear from our accountant that they are tring (again) to pass the law that makes everyone collect state sales tax on sales. In other words if you buy something from California you will pay their sales tax. This will also effect internet sales because companies will now have to collect the ‘50 states’ state tax on everything they sell. Sounds like an accounting nightmare not to mention the ‘$ucking $ound’ out of the economy/your pocket when this goes into effect!
This must be happening quietly because I can find nothing on the proposed law. Anyone heard of it and do you know where to get info about it?
Thanks

Does the capital gain from the sale of my house impact my tax bracket (see details below)?
Dae-su Oh asked:
Assume I sell my house and have to pay capital gains. Assume that, not counting the proceeds from the sale, I am in the 15% tax bracket. Will I have to pay 5% on the capital gain, or will the sale push me into a higher bracket, forcing me to pay 15% capital gain?
I’ve found information on the internet indicating that the sale pushes me into a higher tax bracket, forcing me to pay 15% capital gains. That seems questionable, as every sale (of a house at least) would push all 5% payers into the 15% capital gains bracket.
Here’s a link: http://www.bankrate.com/brm/itax/tips/20010305a.asp?caret=14#5
Thanks!

Thanks for the answers, but the property is rental property. I’m aware of the exemptions, and like-kind exchanges, etc., but none of those strategies are available to me.

Dems Decided Not to Tax Their Rich Wall Street Friends. But, Now Dems Want Avg Joe to Pay Sales Taxes on?
Duminos asked:
… internet transactions.
Does the following sum up the Dems?
1. Promise that rich people will pay for AMT tax relief.
2. Decided NOT to make their rich friends pay higher taxes to fund AMT tax relief.
3. Gave AMT tax relief to average Joe and Jane.
4. Make average Joe and Jane pay sales taxes on internet purchases.
5. Continue to protect Rich Friends and Donors.
Is anyone surprised that the Dems are taking care of the rich at the expense of working Americans?
